Interesting aromas and flavors claim a leading role in Kalamata tables. A combination of good food, beverages and traditional music create the atmosphere here.

Every year, as a legacy, the domestic vineyards offer plenty of flavors and aromas. Some typical wine varieties are the following: Roditis, Fileri, Fokiano, Assyrtiko, Moschofilero, Agiorgitiko, Mandilaria.

Apart from the Greek grape, harvesters turned also to foreign varieties such as: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Frenc, Grenade Rouge, Merlot and Carignen.

Local wines have excellent organoleptic qualities, taking into account the low altitude, the ideal climatic conditions during the ripening of the grapes and the fertile soil of the area.

The dry white and the red wine of Messinia are guaranteed as products of Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) (Messinian-dry white wine).

Since the ancient times, the beneficial effects of wine have not been doubted and the moderated consumption of wine has been acting as a safeguard for the body against various diseases especially cardiovascular.

Red wine in particular, thanks to its polyphenols and antioxidants containing, shields the immune system and also protects the endothelium of the heart.

As part of a balanced diet , to accompany food with one glass of wine (120ml) for women and one or two glasses for men is recommended.
