Potato Salad with herring


  • Messinia potatoes
  • Onion, chopped
  • Herring, smoked
  • Parsley, chopped
  • Green pepper
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil PDO Kalamata
  • Lemon juice
  • Taygetos oregano
  • Salt
  • Pepper


Wash well the potatoes from any soil, and place them unpeeled in a pot with cold water and a little salt. The water level must cover the potatoes.

Boil for about 30-40 minutes from the moment the water starts bubbling, till they get soft. Drain the potatoes and cool them in cold water.

Peel and cut them into medium-sized pieces In a bowl, prepare a mixture with the remaining ingredients, mixing them all together. Broil the herring over a burning newspaper.

Clean the herring carefully and mix it with the ingredients of the potato salad.

Place the bowl in the fridge for about half an hour and then serve.
