A nutritious nut, produced in the region of Bournias in the Municipality of Kalamata and in other regions of Messinia.
The fruit is collected and peeled and then used as a pure nut , raw or roasted.
It is put for sale in its natural form with the shell or without it. The nuts can be baked without any salt in a residential oven, but their raw consumption is preferable.
Rich in “good” fats, both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. It is also a good source of fat-soluble vitamins (E, A), and vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and zinc.
