Pasteli

Typical traditional sweet made from sesame and honey. It occurs with many variations (peanut, almond) and different textures (soft-boiled, crunchy).

A dominant Kalamata product is the melato pasteli (pasteli with honey).

It is maintained in a cool and dry place. More preferable is considered the pasteli that have no extra sugar added.

It is a highly practical and easily transportable product, also an excellent choice for intermediate meal, since it constitutes a very good source of energy.

It has high nutritional value, since both sesame and honey offer the body valuable nutrients.

Rich in B vitamins, vitamin E, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and ferrum.

Despite its high percentage of lipids, it contains mostly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat, ie ‘good’ fat.

Pasteli is an alternative proposal for breakfast, along with yogurt or a cup of milk or a handful of nuts (peanuts, almonds, walnuts etc).
